Buffet, Talk & First Evening Show
Talk by

Gay Beattie
Wild Flowers in the Chilterns

We welcome Gay Beattie to the Members' Evening. Gay has collaborated with her Father, already an award winning author, to study the beautiful chalk hills and grassland of the Chilterns in Oxfordshire, Bucks, Herts and Beds.

Members of the Chiltern Society have contributed their expertise to create an invaluable guide to the best flora and most rewarding walks in the area.

Gay is a member of the Chiltern Society and leads a church based walking group. Her illustrated talk, full of amusing anecdotes and enthusiasm will inspire the most intrepid and nature loving walker.
An Experimental (Pilot) Evening Show

Also, we are introducing a pilot evening show which could enable the showing of plants, flowers, etc., not in season at the time of our Annual Show. It will be informal in nature and will be judged by popular vote of the members present. There will be five "classes".

Members will be asked to record their votes on a records sheet. They will enter the exhibit number in each class for the exhibit which they think is best. If there is a tie in a class, the Chairman will exercise a casting vote. The entry voted best in each class will then be assessed by the President and Chairman to decide the "best" entry for the evening and a bottle prize will be awarded. It is hoped that, apart from the informality, there will be exhibits which may stimulate special interest and discussion. Should this social experiment be a success, we will consider how best to proceed with this idea in future. For that reason, we have included a possible second experimental evening show for later in the year in September.
